DREAMING OF YOU Dixie Kane
Zebra Books
December 2002
To end a century old curse, a French Quarter ghost plays cupid. His ghostly shenanigans bring together Magnolia Mayfair and her New York landlord, in New Orleans incognito to find out why his French Quarter building is not selling. His real estate agent tells him his tenants--a maskmaker, a psychic, a female impersonator and a retired history professor--are sabotaging the sale by haunting the building. They are, but when the real ghost decides to take a hand the tenants are as bumfuzzled as their landlord.

SharonB - BB is trying to confuse me...not too hard these days.
Dixie Kane - I didn't know how to write about one, so I searched the internet and found a site that gave step by step instructions
SharonB - Hi Moose
Cissy - hi moose Welcome to our chat with Dixie Kane! We're talking to Dixie tonight about her new release, DREAMING OF YOU. We're operating on protocol, so if you have questions for Dixie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Lydia F - Hi Moose
sha - Hi Dixie Freddie just got here
BadBarb - hi diana
BadBarb - who me? I wouldnt do that to you Sharon
Lydia F - Moose did you get the tree done?
moosehog - HI BadBarb, Caffey, Celeste, Cissy, Delyn, Dixie Kane, Lydia F, Mac, Mary f, Murialisa, O, RobinDOwens, SIMPSON, Sara, SharonB, and Sha
Sara - step by step to a seance? Really?
SIMPSON - hi Moose!
moosehog - Trees all done. VBG.
moosehog - ?????
Caffey - whats a seance?
Sara - that was the white and purple candle bits?
BadBarb - I used to do seances when I was a kid at sleepovers
Dixie Kane - Hi, Freddie
RobinDOwens - Hi, Moose!
BadBarb - we used to scare ourselves
Cissy - O has the next question (Simpson, moosehog in line)
Dixie Kane - A seance is where a group of people try to contact a dead person
O - What made you write in the first place. Did you hear voices or just see Ghosts
Dixie Kane - The candle bits were candle magic. I got that from Hailey North
BadBarb - yup, you sit around a circle, usually with a candle and hold hands
Caffey - thanks. i saw everyone using the word and didn't know what it meant!
moosehog - Barb .... me too . And I refuse to buy that Owija board game too .
Mac - Generally seen in movies as a cirlce of letters with yes and no with a glass or something used as the indicator...everyone sits in a circle around it and places one finger on the glass or object and they take turns asking questions of the s.
BadBarb - didnt you used to play with those too?
sha - Freddie has to go get something to eat he wishes you the best
BadBarb - those were spooky
Dixie Kane - I used the seance so my ghost could introduce himself
Mac - Did that help?
Caffey - awesome Mac, thanks!
moosehog -
SharonB - MY sister had a Owija board...far too spooky
Caffey - nope Barb
BadBarb - did you ever see anything when you did seances Mac and Moose?
moosehog - I can't go by them in the store without cringing .
Cissy - Simpson has the next question ( moosehog in line)
Dixie Kane - Ouija board are scary
RobinDOwens - Excellent idea, Dixie.
Caffey - this book scary <g>
O - Hey my question was not answered
Hunt4Me2 - hello everyone
moosehog - I believe in ghosts ...I lived in a house that was haunted . Realtor even had to advertise it as such when it sold . Weird things went on there .
BadBarb - hi hunt
Dixie Kane - Not scary, funny
Cissy - Hi Hunt Welcome to our chat with Dixie Kane! We're talking to Dixie tonight about her new release, DREAMING OF YOU. We're operating on protocol, so if you have questions for Dixie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Mac - Oujia boards are not nice things to play with...basically the same idea, only a baord of wood witht he letters engraved or drawn on, the indicator is a spade shaped piece with three tiny legs and a circle cut out, the letter under the circle is the one you read....supposedly, they are a door way to another domain, and are most often used by evil spirits to trick people into inviting them in. Supposedly you can only get rid of one by burning it.
Mary f - Hello Hunt
Caffey - Hunt
Lydia F - I ask a Owija board what time someone was going to call and they called at that time. Scared me to death.
RobinDOwens - Hi, Hunt.
sha - Hello Hunt
Mac - Welcome to the Occult 101. Anymore questions? lol
Lydia F - HI Hunt
moosehog - Noone would be there and the room would get cold and you could smell perfume really bad . Things moved . Doors opened and closed . You could hear a woman's voice talking . Even called the police a time or two .
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Cissy
Mary f - LMAO Mac
Hunt4Me2 - HEllo Barb
Dixie Kane - O--I wrote the book because of the ghost we had in our apartment when we lived in the Quarter
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Robin
Caffey - Mac!
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Sha

SIMPSON - yes, I did Dixie, but Cissy was gracious enough to answer it.....thanks
moosehog - Dixie , what do you think about the trend to be using cartoon character covers ? (most specifically yours) Do you have any input into those or not ? and would you rather them or real people covers , ect .?
moosehog - And I sure hope noone asked this because I wasn't here .VBG.
RobinDOwens - Good question, Moose.
Cissy - she wanted to know if your books were funny, Dixie. I said YES!
Dixie Kane - I didn't have any input, except hair color which they got wrong But I like the cover. It lets you know it's a funny book
moosehog - thanks Robin
Cissy - I think the cover's perfect
Sara - I wasn't going to mention the blonde guy, Dixie!
Mary f - How can they get the color wrong when you tell them?
Sara - But I LOVE the cartoon covers. Makes me pick the book up!
Hunt4Me2 - HELLO SHARONNNNN ....kinda like saying hello to myself
Dixie Kane - I think I like the cover for Chasing Lily better. When I was Linda Kay, I had a John DeSalvo cover. That was yummy.
SharonB - I will have to read this book...love to lol!
Dixie Kane - Mary F--I wish I knew
sha - I enjoy the cartoon covers but I'd buy your books even if they had a boring cover because the text will well make up for the cover
Sara - Sharon, you will!
SharonB - Hi...nice name isn't it
Sara - I enjoyed the interaction between the characters too! Jaye is cool!
Dixie Kane - Sha--that's so nice of you!
SharonB - How many Sharon's are here?

Hunt4Me2 - and its OK i mostly go by my nick name anyways
moosehog - Is Linda Kay , Dixie Kane and Linda Lewis all the same person ?
Caffey - just came out for Dec or Nov
Dixie Kane - I want to write a connected series of books.
SharonB - What is that?
RobinDOwens - Moose, yes,
Lydia F - Don't tell me that I am going to Walden's tomorrow.
O - Yes moose
Dixie Kane - Moosehog--yes, they are all moi
RobinDOwens - Very cool.
sha - Dixie do you find it hard to come up with story lines. Yours are always so unique
Dixie Kane - We don't have a Walden's in my town. Hopefully, it will be there
Hunt4Me2 - my nick??? Hunter
moosehog - I knew Linda Kay and Dixie were ... just curious about the other .
SIMPSON - I work at Walden's.......
Cissy - RobinDOwens has the next question (Simpson in line)
SIMPSON - and I saw it there today...in fact, I set up an endcap for it.....
Caffey - if i worked at Walden's i'd have to file bankrupsy
Dixie Kane - Simpson--have you seen it?
RobinDOwens - I visited your site and liked the kitten under the tree! Do you have other sites?
SIMPSON - yes, Dixie...I set up an end cap today
Lydia F - GREAT.....
RobinDOwens - An end cap? Whoo-hoo!
SharonB - Me too Caffey...If I didn't get fired first.
Dixie Kane - No, I had Linda Kay, but don't try it. Now it links to a porn site.
Hunt4Me2 - ahh Simpson they'd get my whole paycheck if i worked there
Hunt4Me2 - it was bad enough when i use to work in the mall
moosehog - Thanks for the warning Dixie .
Dixie Kane - Thank you, Simpson, End caps are good!
Caffey - fired for reading at work Sharon
O - Porn sites i going to have to try it

RobinDOwens - Thanks for the warning.
Caffey - what's an End Cap?
sha - I think that was the wrong thing to say . Most of these gals will desert your chat for the porn site
Dixie Kane - Moose--they want you to pay, Be careful
SharonB - Yep!!!
SIMPSON - an End Cap is the end of a "book shelf" facing the isle....
Dixie Kane - Sorry Moose, I meant O
SIMPSON - does that answer Caffey?
moosehog - Not this girl ..I get enough Erotica / Porn from my romance books .
RobinDOwens - Caffey -- it's great promo for the author.
Caffey - yep Simpson, thanks!
SIMPSON - your welcome...
Dixie Kane - It certainly is, and usually the publisher has to pay for the endcap
moosehog - Robin .
Caffey - I'm learning lots of vocabulary here tonight <g>
Cissy - Simpson has the next question (no one in line)
Mac - lol
SIMPSON - we have sooooooo many books right now that I just put them wherever I want....and the romance goes out first if I'm on shift
