Rebecca York - I'm also on Writerspace at Blaze authors and Berkley authors. Cissy - clean your contacts, Sara! Sara - Rebecca is writing for Blaze too? Oliveria - Lol RC Sara - yup, Rebecca, I did your great picture today SusanKearney - You need lubrication, Cissy. Sara - Rhode Island, huh? pretty small Rebecca York - I'm also launching Berkley's new dark paranormal line in April 2003. Cissy - that's an awfully personaly observation, Susan Sara - okay, next up, Miss Cissy!!! Go FOR IT!!! Sara - ah, COOL, Rebecca -- my secret love, paranormal Oliveria - ? Rebecca York - Sara, you mean the one where I'm lying in the bottom of a Panga, wearing a wet suit? Cissy - pardon me, I'm still biting back all the unmentionable responses to Susan's post... SusanKearney - Kewl, Rebecca. I can't wait to read your werewolf books. It is werewolf, right? Sara - I was just skating over that one, Cissy Oliveria - Rhode is the samallest state but it is a great state Sara - ah, I can't tell! WE gotta get people to come check it out SueK - Oliveria - I was just going to ask that Sara - a wonderful state, Oliveria Cissy - okay, my question is for both of you, and it's a double. What was your favorite scene from this book and what was the most poignant moment? Rebecca York - Susan, yes, my first book for Berkley is about a werewolf PI who uses his wolf senses to solve crimes. It's romantic suspense, of course. I don't think I can write a book (except maybe a cookbook ) without a romance. Sara - ah, favorite AND poignant! A great combination! Sara - what!! *gasp* no romance in the cookbooks? SusanKearney - My favorite scene is the most poignant one. But it would ruin the end. Let's just say it's when the hero proves to the heroine that he loves her. R-C - depends on what you do with the food Sara - you gotta love a tricky author, Cissy. NO details from Susan! Oliveria - Give us a hint Cissy - lol, R-C Sara - I know, RC! Rebecca York - Cissy, my favorite scene is the one where Sam Lassiter drinks the bourbon and then gets himself and the heroine and the kid away from the bad guy. The most poignant scene--I can't tell it to you because it will give too much away. Cissy - *sigh* Guess we just have to get the book! Such a hardship Sara - geez! they are twins! two of a kind! SusanKearney - Telling about suspense plots is hard. i hate to ruin the book for people who haven't read them. Sara - tease us a little more, guys! Sara - well, your opener is wonderful, Susan! Sara - I am beginning to wish I had been able to get Rebecca's book before this chat ... Sara - so I could GRILL HER!! SusanKearney - Okay, we both tend to write on the hot side at Intrigue. That's probably why we both also write for Blaze. SusanKearney - And hot goes good with suspense. All that danger makes the hormones kick in. Rebecca York - Sara, OK--I use the kid in the book to interrupt the H/H when they'd like to be making love. I figure, if I have to put a kid in the book, I should be able to make use of him. Oliveria - Well at my Job i got a cerificate for a Bookstore Oliveria - So i have a good excuse to buy more books R-C - gota love those hormones Cissy - goes *very* well with suspense... SusanKearney - Oliveria, You get free books? Sara - hmmm, that could lend us to a new line of probing ... what is the intensity of your sexual tension? high, low, barely there? and how does it work with the mystery? Rebecca York - I love writing hot books, which is why I also write for Blaze. Sara - oh, Oliveria, that is a GOOD gift! Oliveria - No we exchange gifts and i got a cerifcate to Bordors SusanKearney - Sara, The sexuality varies with the characters of course. But when the tension is life threatening, the sexuality has to keep up. Sara - obviously I need to do some research! get more "hot" books! SusanKearney - A great gift! Rebecca York - Sara, the H/H have the hots for each other, but they keep getting interrupted by bad guys trying to kill them. Sara - yes, nothing more boring than straight suspense with no release! SusanKearney - SARA! Sara - hormonal driven release is always fun to read! Oliveria - What authors do both of you read when you have the chance R-C - sara, try a mexican cook book, Cissy - gotta love sexual tension! Sara - oh, oops! did I type that? Rebecca York - I like to have them really frustrated before I let them do it. SusanKearney - I like all kinds of tension. Lives in danger as well as hearts in danger. Sara - uh, hmm, do we have another question for these lovely ladies? can we get Sara out of the hot seat? Sara - ah, frustration! a great motivator! SusanKearney - Yes, to that Rebecca. By the time the hero and heroine make love, the reader should be on edge. Oliveria - Yes what authors do both of you like to read Rebecca York - Oliveria, I read Clive Cussler, Dick Francis, Nora Roberts, Ken Follett, Mary Jo Putney Sara - to solve the mystery to move on to the climax! SusanKearney - Sidney Sheldon, Nora Roberts, Anne McCafferty, Tom Clancy Cissy - what are you two working on now? R-C - Rebecca, with a list like that, no tom clancy SusanKearney - I'm finishing up a Blaze and then moving on to a trilogy about a group of ex military and CIA types who rescue people in great danger. Cissy - yum, Susan! Rebecca York - Cissy, I'm writing a sexy Intrigue with a hero who's a ghost. I'm also writing another paranormal about an evil magician trying to capture a demon, and the demon is putting together a "defense team" of the hero and heroine. SusanKearney - I need titles--so if you have suggestions . . . Cissy - oh those sound great too Sara - when will the next trilogy be out? 2002? for Susan Oliveria - Are they Vampire book Rebecca? Rebecca York - R-C, Tom Clancy has too much emphasis on war hardware for me. Cussler does it too, but he's so much fun, I forgive him. Sara - oh, WOW, Rebecca!! Need a reader? Sara - Ah, Cussler. He is a hoot! I ADORE Dirk Pitt!! Rebecca York - Oliveria, they're not vampire books. I'm more into werewolves than vampires. The demon is something totally different. I feel like I'm dancing out here at the edge of the universe as I write it. SusanKearney - Cissy, we're working about twoMy next triology is a Royalty series out Oct, Nov., dec. 2002. I got to create my own country. It's called THE CROWN AFFAIR. R-C - I like both of them but haven't read either in a while Rebecca York - Sara, yes I love Dirk Pitt and his opalescent green eyes. He's everything a romance hero should be--except that he doesn't want to get married. SusanKearney - And he's a little old. BethS2 has timed out. Cissy - cool! Sara - yeah, Dirk has a commitment problem! At least with women! and Cussler kills off the good ones *sigh* Oliveria - Ok Rebecca i like most Parnornal books ecpect Vampire and devils Rebecca York - Sara, well, I probably could use a reader. Are you volunteering? Sara - Dirk? he is eternnaly young Sara - oh, yeah, Rebecca! SusanKearney - Like Sara has nothing esle to do! R-C - some of them have to stay single. If all of them got married the single girls would loose hope Rebecca York - Oliveria, the demon isn't a devil. He's just a being from another time continuum who has gotten trapped by the magician. He's neither good nor evil. Sara - Well, I don't want to rush you off, but we always give our authors a graceful exit at the end of the hour. R-C - NIght TC Rebecca York - Sara, you can e-mail me at Ruth@rebeccayork.com . Sara - Before I 'officially' close the chat, I would like you both to refresh our memories. Oliveria - Ok can you tell the name of that one Rebecca York - Oliveria (continued), he lives in a place where there is no physical matter. The only way he can interact with us is through mind control. Sara - that sounds good, doesn't it? I like Star Trek too! Oliveria - That sounds grear Sara - and you are on the edge with this one, Rebecca? Sara - writing where no man/woman has gone before? dawnie - room Oliveria - what is the name? Rebecca York - THE MAN FROM TEXAS (an August Intrigue) and NEVER ALONE (an October Intrigue) are still available on Amazon. Sara - hi, dawnie Sara - cool! Rebecca. I will have to get those ! R-C - how do you handle the delay time between acceptance andpublication Sara - LOL. yes. we are NOT demanding ya know! dawnie - hi bon Oliveria - I am Sara - it sounds so good! can you post some excepts on your site to titalate us? (sorry spell check nodule died) Rebecca York - R-C, the delay time makes me antsy. I wrote the whole werewolf book before I sold it to Berkley. I'm writing the demon book now, so there will be less delay. The books are coming out in three consecutive months, so they're holding the first one while I finish the last two. Sara - geez. NOT FAIR Sara - guys, I gotta run, try to be back in a bit Sara - thank you so MUCH Rebecca! and come back Rebecca York - I have the first chapter of a forthcoming Intrigue always on my rebeccayork.com web site. I think I should wait to put a teaser for the werewolf book up because it won't be available for over a year and a half. When it gets a little closer, I'll put up the first chapter. Rebecca York - R-C, if you mean the werewolf book, they asked me to change a couple of scenes and write one additional scene. Bon - why are they waiting until 2003 to release your book? Rebecca York - Bon, they're waiting so long because they want to make a splash with the three books and bring them all out in three consecutive months--and I still have to write 1 1/2 books! Bon - WOW!!! no pressure on ya huh? LOL Rebecca York - Sara, thanks a lot for having me, and I'll be happy to do this again. Maybe I could do the Blaze chat in March. R-C - My first book just got accepted and I am sitting on pincushins wondering how much will have to be changed Rebecca York - Bon, yeah--a lot of pressure--it's making me bitchy. Bon - bitchy can be a good thing LOL i know this Bon - do they change much of an author's writings? Rebecca York - All, it's been a pleasure, but I have to go watch the National Geographic special on the Lord of the Rings (which I taped earlier). Bye!
