Sandy's July Newsletter

Happy Beltane, everyone. Here the Texas sun is already toasting the grass, but the temperature is still below 100 degrees, so I'm not complaining.

Some Exciting News

A Man In A Kilt - RITA NOMINEE!A MAN IN A KILT has been picked up by Doubleday Bookclub, which means it's coming out in hard cover in July!!! I'm sooo excited. For months I've been worrying about my paperbacks degrading over time, and now I won't have to. I'll have hardbound copies to pass down to my grandbabies, great grandbabies, and great-great grandbabies. (Talk about feeling immortal.) I'm so impatient. I've been checking www.Doubledaybookclub.com daily but have yet to see it advertised. (Come on July!) Ack.

A MAN IN A KILT won the 2005 Write Touch Awards for Best Paranormal Romance!! And it's a finalist in the upcoming 2005 Texas Gold Awards for Published Authors for Best Paranormal Romance. (Those winners will be announced August 15, 2005.)

And I've come kicking and screaming into the 21st Century...yup, I've started "blogging." Anyone interested can check it out on www.RomanceUnleashed.com where they'll find me among a group of really talented writers just blogging away. Please feel free to jump in if you're so inclined.

Travel Plans

I'll be signing at the Barnes and Noble in Lewisville, Texas on July 23, 2005 from 1:00PM-4:00PM if any of you want to drop by to say hi.

And I'll be at the RWA National Conference in Reno, Nevada from July 27-31, 2005 and can't wait to see a few of you there. The Public charity booksigning will be held Wednesday night. Anyone needing information on the conference can find it on www.rwanational.com.

Last month I had a great time visiting my long-time, writer friend Nancy Haddock in St. Augustine, Florida. After days on the beach and touring, I renew acquaintances with one of my best college friends, Beth Pitts. My book signing at the St. Augustine Barnes and Nobles went well. Most of the customers had never heard of me or my books, but many graciously took a chance and two have since written to say that they're glad they did. Pictures have been posted on www.Sandyblair.net on the photo gallery page.

Fun Stuff

A charming Texas fan named Sheila presented me with a great bumper sticker at a booksigning a few months ago. It read:

"AVID TUPPING FAN"

I thought it funny and ran with the idea. If anyone would like a free "TUPPING" bumper sticker, please contact me at [email protected]. (Lord knows how many drivers are now running around Dallas wondering, "What the heck is Tupping?")
